Newport Boardwalk

Downtown Newport is an eclectic mix of bay side activity. Fancy restaurants and upscale art galleries mingle with tourist attractions and bric-a-brac shops. Commercial fisheries line the waterfront side of the street, imbuing the air with the ripe scent of freshly caught salmon, lingcod, halibut, Dungeness crab, and other fresh catches. Salty workmen dodge visitors and locals to perform their duties, their presence reminding you this area is first and foremost a working port. If you’ve had enough shopping and dining, and are ready to simply cruise the bay’s edge on foot, the Newport Boardwalk is a worthwhile stop.

Bountiful benches allow you to rest as often as you like while viewing the marina and its inhabitants. Between and over the masts to the southwest, the arches of the Yaquina Bay Bridge stretch across the harbor entrance.
