Connie Hansen Garden

Occupying a rectangular block in the middle of an otherwise ordinary northwest Lincoln City neighborhood, the Connie Hansen Garden is a cozy park maintained by the volunteer efforts of the Connie Hansen Garden Conservancy. Walking paths bordered by mature labeled trees, many varieties of rhododendrons, and several flower beds wind around the one and a quarter acre property. A small stream trickles along the north side, spanned by wooden footbridges where it intersects the path.

My husband and I visited near the end of July, which is not an optimal time for blooms, but there were still dabs of color in several manicured beds.   Even on our Tuesday visit – one of two days per week when the garden is tended by local helpers – the grounds were a peaceful chunk of natural green lushness.

Stroll

Packed with greenery and flowering plants the Connie Hansen Garden invites a relaxed pace and quiet contemplation. Choose a bench or wander to partake of the varied and abundant plant life.

The Stroll designation above is the best fit for this garden. If you choose to walk the route shown on the map, head left from the 33rd Street entrance on the gravel path until you reach a bench in about 75 steps. Another 75 steps on the main loop takes you to across a footbridge and within 50 more you have a view of the heather bed.

After enjoying the colors and scents, you can you return the way you came or veer left at the footbridge near the 34th Street entrance to swing by the Garden House. The Garden House course is a shorter distance. If open, you can purchase a souvenir T-shirt or unique seeds and plants in the gift shop. Proceeds help maintain the grounds.
